A new version of tiumfwl.c is available since several months:

http://penguin-breeder.org/news/?65

It admits the key used to 'encrypt' the firmware. After several
hours of trial and error, I managed to get the correct key and
upload the proper firmware to the device.
* If he specified key is wrong, the laptop hangs completly after
inserting a MMC card.
* When you reach the correct key, the laptop freezes a few seconds
and then a new /hde/hde device appears.
lspcmcia shows a pcmcia card on slot 2 that emulates the
new storage device.
However, dmesg output contains lots of errors about block sizes etc
so it's not usable yet (kernel 2.6.20). I figure this will be fixed
in future kernel releases.

I suggest you to try the most probable keys first. My card reader uses
a very simple bit pattern.

Huh? What does most probable key mean? Is the key computer specific or
the same key for everyone?
