About a month ago I asked about repairing o replacing a keyboard. I
ended up buying a new one on eBay, which has arrived. During the
discussion someone posted an URL with instructions for installing a new
keyboard on an R3000. I could swear I saved the message, but I can't
find it. Whoever it was, could you please repost? Thanks!

I am not the person you are referring to, but nonetheless here are two
URLs I found useful when I replaced my keyboard:

Gus,

Thanks a lot. One of those URLs got me the entire Service and
Maintenance Guide, which I have printed out. I am happy to report that
I successfully replaced the keyboard in a matter of 15 minutes. Thanks!!

Ben,

Actually, I even contributed to the wiki once some time ago
(ndiswrapper with Ubuntu amd-64 Breezy). Of course, it didn't occur to
me to look there for information about replacing the keyboard. Bear in
mind that I am blond. :(

But the link to HP's site produced a complete service and repair manual
(hundreds of pages), which I printed out. I am happy to report that
replacing the keyboard took all of fifteen minutes and all is peace and
harmony again in keyboard-land.

I am currently perusing the wiki to see if I can figure out why I keep
having filesystem errors. I'm going to try flashing the BIOS -- found
the instructions, but the link for the files I need shows files for
different HP computers. I'll have to sort it out tomorrow, though,
because I need this machine running today for class. But afterwards I
have the whole weekend to fix it in case I blond it up, and time to
make a full backup first as well.
